An Open Letter to Basis Bay Employees

Hello Basis Bayers

It continues to be, indeed, changing times. Times like we have all never seen before. The world will be a very different place by the end of the year, both in terms of the economics of things and the social norms we have all grown accustomed to.

I have always taken pride in the fact that in the last (almost) 25 years, despite macro economic fluctuations (starting with the Asian Economic Crisis in ‘97 - ‘98), Basis Bay has never missed a salary deadline nor retrenched any employee.

I hope to sustain this very enviable track record despite being in an industry that is ever-changing and competitive. An industry that remains exciting to me and perhaps to those who can adapt to the changes we see and aspire towards leadership roles in their specific chosen specialties within our industry.

Basis Bay‘s specialty is that we have always been in the Premium mid-range to Mainframe IT customer base. Our customers’ expectations are high, as we have always chosen to compete against global players.

We have always punched above our weight class.

Basis Bay’s offerings and services are officially recognised as Essential Services by State governments. Let’s all take pride in the knowledge that our work is critical.

So worry not, Basis Bayers.

I will do my best to ensure that all your jobs remain sustainable. But on your part, please ensure you aspire to remain relevant and compete against the best in your given role. I hope that you all understand why, in recent times, we have tried our utmost to find the best fit for roles in Basis Bay 2.0.

I hope you understand why we ask all prospective Basis Bayers to take their probation period very seriously and aspire to shine during this period in their given role.

Currently, there are several executives on probation. We are likely to extend, wherever possible, all probationary confirmations due during this period. We understand that this will be a difficult time for probationers to seek new employment - we will exhaust all opportunities to find the mutual best fit.

Still probationers, do give it your best to ensure you have found your ideal organisation.

I hope that the urgent financial assistance we provided to all Basis Bayers during the pandemic was helpful.

All employees shall work from home unless otherwise required in providing essential services as requested by your superiors. However, if you are ill (or suspect that you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus), please stay at home and manage /communicate accordingly with your superiors. Use any free time you have to hone your skills through online classes, guided by your superiors and the PDD (People Development Department).

The purpose behind this is clear: when Basis Bayers get out of this challenging period, we will all come out ready to take on together the strategic opportunities which will present themselves. Let’s hope for the best and plan for the worst.

As a reminder, do save and keep accessible standby cash for your emergency sundry needs. Plan ahead accordingly and look after yourselves and your loved ones during this difficult time.

All the best, Basis Bayers, let’s all persevere and get through this together.
