PRABA THIAGARAJAH
(Dato' Paraba Thiaga)
Founder and Group Executive Chairman
“I have always had a dream to re-engineer IT”.
What has long been known as Basis Bay started in enterprise hardware trading, high-end IT refurbishment and disaster recovery for large enterprise businesses. It has since transformed into a leading provider of sustainable cloud and premium IT infrastructure services.
Marked by stints as an engineer at both NEC Corporation and IBM at the start of his career, Dato’ Praba then went on to found Basis Bay in 1996.
An outstanding entrepreneur, Dato' Praba sits in an advisory capacity on the boards of several universities. He is Adjunct Professor at Taylor’s University where he is on the Industry Advisory Panel. Adjunct Professor at Binary University as well, Dato’ Praba is regularly invited to present at business and technology conferences, locally and internationally.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Physics from the University of Malaya and has several post-graduate qualifications such as a Diploma in Computing & Information Technology from the University of Oxford (UK), Master level business certificates from Heriot-Watt University (Scotland) and a Business Continuity certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute International (USA).
As Group Executive Chairman, Dato’ Praba oversees the strategic direction of the Basis Bay group of companies, assisted by a high-calibre executive leadership team.
Dato’ Praba has received numerous awards and accolades including the Entrepreneur Icon Award for management and entrepreneurship awarded by Binary University Malaysia in 2018; the Key Industry Leader award by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) in 2005; the Young Indian Entrepreneur Award in 2006 from the Social Entrepreneur Network (SENET); the GOPIO Excellence Award 2008 and the Global Impact Award 2008 from ASCD (Association of Services & Computer Dealers) (USA). He is an Advisory Council Member at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia.
THYAGA RAJAN SERNIWASSAN
Executive Board Member
Rajan brings over 25 years of experience in consultancy for mechanical, electrical and facilities management of data centres. The current chair of the Malaysian Data Centre Alliance (MDCA), he is responsible for Basis Bay’s data centre building and construction division.
As the lead project director in the construction of Asia’s first green data centre, Rajan brings a wealth of experience in planning sustainable purpose-built data centres.
Rajan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. He also holds an MBA from Cardiff University, UK.
Rajan is a certified CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), CDRP (Certified Data Centre Risk Professional) and CDCS (Certified Data Centre Specialist) professional as well as a member of the Malaysian Board of Engineers.
GEERT BOING
Director
Geert brings over 25 years of experience in corporate finance, business strategies, and leadership coaching. He also has experience in education as a lecturer in business economics, governance, risk and compliance, and entrepreneurship.

In his previous roles, he has been the CFO and Financial Director in multiple organizations in which he has successfully implemented business improvement programs which yielded on both revenue generation and cost reduction. Geert has in-depth knowledge about financial processes, financial information management and implementation management, including knowledge in the Information Management and ICT domain.

Geert is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from Dutch Chartered Accountancy and holds a Master’s Degree in Change Management (CCMM) from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Reuben Oh
Director - Strategic Business
Reuben brings over 20 years of sales and management experience in banking, financial services and technology across a number of regions including Malaysia, Singapore, Phillipines, China, Indonesia, West Africa, Papua New Guinea and the United States.
His work has involved taking on C-level and senior management engagement with multinational corporations, larger enterprises as well as SMEs. While at Citibank, he was directly responsible for bringing the branch to one of its highest sales and customer banking service achievements.
From an ICT vendor perspective, he was responsible for leading sales and senior client management in the financial services and enterprise sectors selling a combination of systems integration, managed services for IT outsourcing and CRM during his Fujitsu days.
His present engagement lies in business development and partner engagement in the ICT industry spanning across enterprise sectors providing cloud services and data centre solutions.
Thomas has served in a variety of positions and held numerous portfolios in IT over the last 20 years. His experience, capabilities and passion come together to support organisations in designing and implementing strategies and processes that are sustainable, rewarding and increase customer loyalty.
As Director of Cloud Solutions, he oversees a team to architect solutions that ensure high profitability and quality. He advises on best practices within IT operations to bring about an optimised environment. In particular, he provides planning, design and consultancy on green IT infrastructure and initiatives.
Thomas is a certified Data Centre expert, certified Data Centre professional and certified Data Centre Risk professional. He holds a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of East London.
Prekash Menon
Director - Operations, Technology
With experience across Singapore and Malaysia, Prekash has spent over 16 years involved in various domains within IT. These include banking data centre, business continuity planning (BCP) / disaster recovery, IT security and mobile app development.
As the Director of Operations – Technology, he oversees a number of business units: IT Service Management, BCP / disaster recovery, data centre operations, TPM (third party maintenance), Internal MIS (Management Information System) as well as Service Desk / Command Centre. He ensures a well-oiled and smooth-running operations team that delivers the best service levels to our customers.
Prekash holds a Masters in Information Technology majoring in Data Analytics. He also holds multiple certifications including CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), CDCS (Certified Data Centre Specialist), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and ITIL.
