The Basis Bay team at Malaysia Dutch Business Council (MDBC) 25th Anniversary Dinner and Innovation and Sustainability Awards (MISA)
On February 28th, 2023, Basis Bay attended the Malaysia Dutch Business Council (MDBC) 25th Anniversary Dinner and Innovation and Sustainability Awards (MISA). The MISA event is an esteemed occasion that holds significant importance for the Dutch-Malaysian business community, commending individuals and organizations that lead the way in Dutch-Malaysian investments, trading, entrepreneurship, and partnerships.
As a leading provider of Sustainable Cloud, Green Data Centres, and Premium IT Infrastructure Services, Basis Bay was shortlisted as a finalist for the MDBC Outstanding Malaysian Investor in the Netherlands award. At Basis Bay, we strongly believe in advocating "Clean IT" and have re-engineered traditional IT thinking and concepts to ensure maximum efficiency with minimal environmental impact. Our holistic approach enables IT solutions that align with our environmental, social, and economic responsibilities within the organization, and we take pride in having built Asia's first Green Data Centre in 2009, which has since become the blueprint for other data centres in the region.
Through our presence in the Netherlands, we have provided employment and internship opportunities to Dutch nationals and provided third-party maintenance services for clients in Europe. In 2011, we also launched our Green IT initiative in both Amsterdam and Langkawi to reinforce our commitment to sustainability and align both nations on sustainability.
Our Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) best practices in supply chain management were also recognized as part of the award. These practices include smart procurement of IT equipment through an international network of partners and suppliers, enabling procurement in a timely manner with minimal carbon footprint. We also provide end-of-support and end-of-life services to extend the product life cycle for our clients, reducing their procurement needs. We conduct due diligence to identify and assess potential risks of human rights abuses, environmental degradation, and corruption in the supply chain.
Basis Bay has been committed to corporate social responsibility and anti-corruption since our inception in 1996. We regularly make donations to various social outfits and non-profits to help marginalized communities meet their needs and have also provided support to over 150 families during the pandemic. In 2013, we also sponsored satellite trackers in partnership with WWF Malaysia for Pygmy elephants' conservation in Borneo. Our IT coding and English public speaking programmes for disenfranchised minority school students to increase their future employability and entrepreneurship opportunities are also noteworthy initiatives.
