Basis Bay Sponsors Pink Polo’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Kuala Lumpur, 6 October 2018: Pink Polo Kuala Lumpur is an annual charity event held at the Royal Selangor Polo Club (RSPC) to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation. The proceeds are channelled to help the foundation’s efforts in raising awareness of early detection of breast cancer, providing financial aid, support group and counselling to those in need, as well as organising activities for survivors and their families.
Pink Polo Kuala Lumpur 2018 saw three teams competing for the Sunny Hale Cup which is dedicated to the late Sunset “Sunny” Hale, widely considered the world’s greatest women’s polo player who passed away from breast cancer last year. The organisers managed to raise RM70,000 this year, through a polo clinic, charity cycle sessions, raffle ticket sales and individual donations.
Basis Bay Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Praba Thiagarajah said the company was proud to be able to do its part in supporting Pink Polo 2018 and helping to fund Breast Cancer research.
“Breast cancer is so commonly diagnosed in women that we often forget that it also affects men. Being a part of the Pink Polo initiative is reflective of Basis Bay’s values of sustainability.”
