Basis Bay sponsors MDBC’s Innovation & Sustainability Awards 2018


Kuala Lumpur, 12 October 2018– Basis Bay, the leading provider of Sustainable Cloud and IT Infrastructure Services was one of the main sponsors for the Malaysian Dutch Business Council (MDBC) Innovation & Sustainability Awards 2018 (MISA ’18).


Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, winners were crowned at the MISA ’18 Awards Ceremony & Dinner by VIP guest Y. Bhg. Datuk Isham Ishak (Secretary General, Ministry of International Trade and Industry).


Dato’ Praba Thiagarajah, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Basis Bay was the keynote speaker at the Innovation Forum, where he presented on the responsibility of the private sectors in adopting Green Information Technology (IT) for not only social and community benefits but as a corporate discipline to drive better value to shareholders, employees and customers. Basis Bay’s proprietary approach to Sustainable Information Technology services is founded on the principle that businesses need to look at sustainable and productive IT best practices to maximise value from their IT and data centre infrastructure.

Attendees were treated to an exciting and close battle in all three categories (Best Social Innovation, Best Environmental Innovation, and Best Start-Up / Scale-Up in Sustainable Innovation) during the day’s hackathon programme.


The day’s programme was also the final judging round for all shortlisted finalists, as well as a showcase of best practices. Participants included tertiary students, young professionals, start-ups as well as other junior academics.


As the main sponsor of the MDBC Awards Programme, Basis Bay’s Melissa Sandhu was on the panel of judges for the Best Environmental Innovation category of the awards.

They did this by making innovation central to their business models and showing us that innovation can be profitable, which is an inspiration for all participants and the wider business community to innovate and go green.”
