Cyberjaya, Malaysia — 5 November 2025
Basis Bay has officially unveiled Cyberjaya DC2, the world’s first purpose-built Eco-Green Premium Data Centre, marking a defining milestone for Malaysia’s digital economy. The launch demonstrated how Malaysian-built infrastructure can lead the world in secure, sovereign and sustainable digital innovation.
Developed through a strategic partnership with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), Cyberjaya DC2 represents the best of regional collaboration and Malaysian engineering, accelerating the nation’s position as a digital powerhouse in Southeast Asia.
Redefining the Future of Malaysia’s Digital Infrastructure
Officiated by Y.B. Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital Malaysia, the launch celebrated a new class of data infrastructure engineered to meet the highest global standards including TIA-942 Rated-4 and ISO 27001. Purpose-built for mission-critical industries, Cyberjaya DC2 is designed to serve BFSI, government, hyperscale and enterprise clients with unmatched reliability and sustainability.
Guided by Basis Bay’s four strategic pillars - Data Sovereignty, Cyber Availability, Security and Eco-Green Sustainability the data centre defines a new performance benchmark for organisations requiring absolute trust, resilience and sustainable excellence.
Pioneering Eco-Green Innovation
Since introducing Asia’s first green data centre in 2009, Basis Bay has championed Clean IT and Green IT, driving sustainable innovation and ethical governance. Cyberjaya DC2 advances this legacy with its LEED and GBI Gold certifications with ongoing pursuit of Platinum recognition by 2026. The facility integrates vertical greenery, solar energy generation, rainwater harvesting and efficient cooling to deliver a low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), surpassing global benchmarks.
Championing Data Sovereignty and Cyber Resilience
Cyberjaya DC2 is designed for a world where data independence and cyber resilience are national priorities. The facility meets Bank Negara Malaysia’s RMiT, ISO 27001 and global regulatory requirements, ensuring sensitive national and financial data remain within Malaysia’s borders.

X-ray baggage scanners and metal detectors
Pandemic-ready private lift systems
Every access point is engineered with verification, control and layered defence to protect mission-critical operations.
Cyber Availability as a Non-Negotiable
In today’s always-online world, even a few seconds of downtime can disrupt essential services such as banking transactions, hospital systems or government operations. At Basis Bay, keeping our clients online is not just a promise. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.
Cyberjaya DC2 is built with multiple layers of redundancy in power, cooling and network connectivity. This ensures that operations continue smoothly even if one component fails.
Our advanced cybersecurity systems continuously monitor for threats, including denial of service attempts and more complex cyberattacks. These systems respond instantly to keep services running without interruption.
Over the years, Basis Bay’s data centres have proven their strength through real-world challenges, from regional power instabilities to global cyber incidents. Through it all, our facilities have maintained flawless uptime, protecting mission-critical systems and giving clients complete confidence in their business continuity and resilience.

Sustainable Partnership with Air Selangor
A key highlight of the launch is Basis Bay’s collaboration with Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s largest water services provider.
Adam Saffian Ghazali, CEO of Air Selangor, highlighted the importance of this collaboration:
“Air Selangor welcomes the Basis Bay Data Centre project as a key long-term partnership that supports a locally owned enterprise and reflects our commitment to enabling sustainable growth and supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation.
